Ambulance – The Life Saving Vehicle


An ambulance is a vehicle that is loaded with medical equipment. The ambulance transports the patients to the treatment centers, hospitals, and also special care is also administered to the patients while reaching for the hospital.

Ambulances answer to medical-related emergencies, so they are fully equipped with sirens and warning lights to clear their way. Ambulances can instantly transport EMT and other responders to the site of the disaster. It carries equipment to carry out emergency procedures and to carry the patients to the hospital or any other treatment centers.

Generally, those vehicles are considered ambulances that they can carry patients. But it differs by law regardless if an ambulette (a specially equipped vehicle used in transporting patients in case of non-emergency) is also counted as an ambulance. The ambulette is usually not furnished with life-supporting appliances and usually has fewer crew members with lower qualifications than the emergency ambulance crew members.


An ambulance’s presence in the event of an accident or a disaster isn’t just a life-saving grace; the state laws also enforce it as an essential safety precaution.

The job of an onsite ambulance is to treat and prevent life-threatening injuries from becoming fatal. Every year, panic at big gatherings results in stampedes, which results in very high casualties. But this can all be prevented just by the presence of an onsite ambulance, which will reassure people that paramedics will be there to attend them in case of any casualty.

Nowadays, ambulances are equipped to handle several types of injuries, from third-degree burns to heart attacks.

Basic ambulance – these are the common ambulances that we see everywhere in our daily lives. This ambulance is handled by an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), and it can transport those patients who need medical supervision of either minor or uncritical situation. It has a patient bed, oxygen cylinders, and pulse oximeter.

Advance ambulance – these ambulances are equipped with advanced technologies and tools to handle critical patients. These ambulances are also equipped with blood drawing tools, ECG monitor, defibrillator, etc.; patients who need high-level care and are in urgent need of hospital emergency need an advanced ambulance.

Neonatal ambulance – these ambulance services aims at reducing neonatal mortalities. These ambulances transport sick and premature babies to special care hospitals that can provide the right kind of treatment to the infants. These ambulances are equipped with incubators for premature and newborn babies.

Air ambulance – this ambulance uses air transportation by either helicopter or an aero plane to transport patients from the accident site to the healthcare facility. These ambulances are majorly utilized in long-distance or international transport. Air services are fast transport during emergencies.

Ambulance services provide 24/7 response to medical and trauma-related emergencies. They provide an organized treatment system allowing a timely response of qualified health workers to potential medical emergencies. Ambulance facility provides the service of transporting the patient in a variety of disastrous environment.
