And guests get access to great cars at great prices,” Turo Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Mok said.Turo is like Airbnb, but for cars. The company has been around for about 10 years but gained popularity with the recent rental car shortage.“The demand for cars, the car rental crunch, the supply shortage, the need for Orlando. Our partnership with the Orlando International Airport is the most recent and potentially the most exciting one,” Mok said. Here’s how it works: Users download the app and then pick the exact car and dates they want. When a user lands at MCO and gets out of the terminal, they can pick up their car directly from any of the garages. The host will tell the user which row and level the car is located on The host can leave a dropbox with the key inside or remotely start the vehicle through the app. Otherwise, it’s a person-to-person exchange.“I think everybody should definitely give it a try. Anybody that’s visiting Orlando,” said Rodrigo Marsal, who is considered an Orlando Turo “super host.”With this new airport partnership, the bookings for Marsal keep rolling in.“It’s just been busy. For me, it’s non-stop, to be honest. I mean, it’s back-to-back to where I get a drop off in the morning, I pick it up. I take it, clean it, wash the whole car. And then I have to bring it back to the airport,” Marsal added. With summer travel expected to ramp up, Turo could be a traveler’s best bet for snagging a rental car at Orlando International.“You get to avoid all of the rental car shuttles and the whole mess, and you get to work directly one on one with the Turo host. You get to keep the money in the local economy, it’s going directly to Orlando hosts,” Mok said. Turo offers 24/7 customer support and roadside assistance. The company also offers a range of insurance and protection packages for purchase in the event a user encounters any trouble on the roads.
