Extreme engineering, superlative performance and awe-inspiring design are some of the main traits of supercars. Modern supercars are the result of over 130 years of technological development. At a time when the world is transitioning towards EVs, the mechanical marvels of the 20th century continue to be revered.

There’s something ‘pure’ about the internal combustion engine that we keep wanting for more; enthusiasts and collectors alike. Supercars like the Bugatti EB110 have been going up in value, and in a previous article, we had touched upon how we can draw parallels with the luxury watch industry.

CODE41 is one such Swiss watchmaker. Founded in 2016 by Claudio d’Amore, the brand is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Unlike others, CODE41 takes inputs from the community at every stage of the creation of its watches.

In April 2020, CODE41 announced the NB24 chronograph project. For 9 months, members were able to vote and give their opinion on the technical and aesthetic aspects. The company sold 1,380 copies of the Creator Edition. The second edition of the NB24 chronograph was announced in November 2021, with prices starting at $4688 for the Titanium version and $5088 for the AeroCarbon version.

NB24 Chronograph

CODE41’s NB24 Swiss Chronograph is based on the celebrated Valjoux 7750 movement, albeit with a few customizations. The bridges have been redesigned, while the chronograph counters have been repositioned. A peripheral oscillating weight has also been added to the watch.
Almost 85% of the NB24 is made in Switzerland, including nearly all of the 326 components, with the exception of the mainspring and the jewels.

The NB24 comes in a 42 mm case that is available in either carbon fibre or Grade 5 Titanium, and a sapphire crystal. The watch has a power reserve of 48 hours and is water-resistant up to a depth of 100 meters.

The X41 is hand-assembled in Switzerland and comes with a choice of a Grade 5 Titanium case or a lightweight AeroCarbon case. It is water-resistant up to a depth of 100 meters.

The X41 ‘Edition 6’ will also be offered in a stunning sapphire version. The sapphire case puts the beating heart of the watch on display. The stunning case is complimented by a transparent strap.

CODE41 has also introduced new customization options to the watch. Customers get a choice of two bridge colours – green and rainbow. These were selected out of the 9 colours that were proposed to the community.
